Ruth Steven

Ruth Steven (DipCouns) has been working with families and individuals for the last twelve years. She is experienced in working collaboratively to support families/whanau with a range of complex needs. She works with parents/caregivers and children to develop healthy functioning within both themselves and their families. Ruth uses a Strengths-Based Approach and applies her knowledge on Attachment Theory, Interactive Drawing Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Narrative among other modalities. She has been a member of a Kaupapa Maori service for six years and has an awareness of cultural issues. Ruth facilitates an Anger Management group which is a therapeutic group for women and has a certificate in Triple P Primary Care and Discussion Groups for parents of young children. She has been the Coordinator of the Voyage programme in Palmerston North since 2005.
Ruth is a Provisional Member of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors. She has two adult children.
